Why pixel width matters more than character count

Google truncates search result titles and descriptions based on how many pixels wide the rendered text is, not how many characters it contains. A title full of narrow letters like "i" and "l" can run noticeably longer than one full of wide letters like "W" and "M" before it gets cut off. Character count limits are a useful rough guide, but pixel width is what actually determines whether your title or description gets truncated with "…" in real search results.

How to use this generator

Enter your page title and meta description as you'd write them in your site's HTML, along with the page URL and an optional focus keyword. The live preview shows roughly how the page would appear in Google's desktop and mobile search results, with warnings if either field is likely to get truncated or if your focus keyword is missing from the title or description. Copy the generated HTML tags directly into your page's `<head>`.

Writing titles and descriptions that work

A good title tag states clearly what the page is about, ideally with the most important keyword near the front where it's both more visible to searchers and weighted more heavily by search engines. A good meta description doesn't just repeat the title — it's your pitch for why someone should click this result over the others on the page, written as real, natural sentences rather than a stuffed list of keywords.

Common mistakes

The most common mistake is writing a generic title repeated across many pages ("Home | Company Name" on every single page) — search engines and searchers alike can't tell pages apart that way, and it wastes an opportunity to rank for more specific searches. A second is stuffing the focus keyword unnaturally into every sentence; search engines are good at recognizing intent even without exact keyword repetition, and an awkward, keyword-stuffed description reads poorly to actual humans deciding whether to click.

Frequently asked questions

Why pixel width instead of just character count?

Google truncates based on rendered pixel width, not character count — a title full of wide letters truncates sooner than one full of narrow letters at the same character count. This tool measures actual pixel width so the warning is accurate.

Does this submit my page to Google?

No — it's a preview only. You still need to add the generated tags to your page's HTML yourself and let Google crawl it naturally (or via Search Console).

Are the title suggestions AI-generated?

No — they're simple template variations built directly from what you typed (your title and focus keyword), not generated by an AI model.
